LOGAN, Utah – Utah State director of track & field and cross country/head track & field coach
Matt Ingebritsen announced the addition of former Aggie
Karen Christensen to the staff as the director of track & field and cross country operations.
"We're excited to welcome Karen to our track & field staff," Ingebritsen said. "She was such an outstanding competitor and leader for us when she was competing as an Aggie. We can't wait for her to bring that kind of tenacity and positivity to this program as our director of operations. She is going to be a great addition to the staff."
As the director of operations, Christensen will track compliance, coordinate team travel on the road and help organize and run USU-hosted track & field and cross country events.
"Having finished my running career at Utah State, I am blessed to continue to be a part of a program I love," Christensen said. "I'm excited to work with the amazing coaching staff to help the cross country and track & field programs continue their success."
Christensen was a member of USU's track & field team from 2018-22, specializing in both the 800 meters and distance medley relay. Christensen ran the second-fastest 800-meter time in program history with a time of 2:09.50 at the 2022 Mountain West Indoor Championships.
The native of Orem, Utah, was also part of squads that recorded USU's second-, fifth- and seventh-fastest times in the distance medley relay, recording a career-best time of 11:37.89 in the event at the Washington Invitational in 2019.
Christensen earned academic all-Mountain West honors four times and was tabbed an MW Scholar-Athlete in 2022.
