LOGAN, Utah – Utah State cross country runner
Logan Garnica has been named the Mountain West Male Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
This is Garnica's first weekly honor from the MW.
Behind Garnica's first-place finish last Friday at the Idaho State Open in Pocatello, Idaho, the Aggies placed first as a team with 21 points, well ahead of second-place Idaho State's 74 points. Salt Lake Community College took third (75), the College of Southern Idaho finished fourth (93) and Northwest Nazarene was fifth (174).
Garnica completed the 6-kilometer Centennial Cross Country Course in 18 minutes, 25.0 seconds. All five scoring runners for the Aggies placed in the top 10.
Utah State returns to action on Friday, Sept. 30, when it travels to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Lehigh-hosted Paul Shot Run on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
