LOGAN, Utah – Utah State safety
Ike Larsen has been named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
In the Aggies' 34-33 non-conference win over UConn this past Saturday at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut, Larsen blocked the potential game-tying extra point with 40 seconds remaining in the game.
The block was Larsen's second of the season, as he also blocked a punt against then-No. 25 Iowa in the season opener on Sept. 2.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound sophomore from Smithfield, Utah, also had six tackles and one pass breakup against the Huskies.
Larsen and the Aggies (2-3, 0-1 Mountain West) return to action on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m., when they host Colorado State (2-2, 0-0 MW) on Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium. The game will be televised on KJZZ. Tickets can be purchased
