LOGAN, Utah – On the eve of the 2023 Mountain West Cross Country Championships, the league office took a step back in time and revisited some of the best collegiate runners that have come through the conference over the past 25 years.

Four former Aggies, including three from the men's program, made that list.

The lone female representing Utah State on the list is Alyssa Snyder, who competed for the Aggies during the 2018 and 2019 cross country seasons after transferring from Montana State.

Snyder became the second Aggie woman to earn cross country All-American accolades as she placed 25th at the 2018 NCAA National Cross Country Championships with a time of 20:03.39. She also earned all-region honors by placing 17th at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships with a mark of 20:38.2 and garnered first-team all-MW accolades after placing sixth at the league championships with a time of 20:55.40.

In her first season as an Aggie, Snyder won three races and was USU's top finisher in six of the seven meets she competed in. The native of Coalville, Utah, placed 26th with a time of 20:49.5 at the 2019 NCAA Mountain Region Championships and garnered second-team all-MW honors after placing 13th with a time of 21:14.1 at the conference championships.

On the men's side, Dallin Farnsworth, Caleb Garnica and Dillon Maggard were recognized by the Mountain West.

Arguably the greatest distance runner in Utah State history, Maggard ended his illustrious collegiate career with a school-record-tying nine All-American citations, include two in cross country. He also earned a pair of first-team all-region honors in cross country and garnered first-team all-MW accolades in cross country in 2016 and 2017.

As a senior in 2017, Maggard became the first Aggie to win multiple cross country All-America honors when he placed sixth with a time of 29:16.20 at the NCAA Championships – the best finish ever for a Utah State student-athlete.

Maggard also garnered all-region accolades after finishing seventh at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships with a time of 30:26.4 and was tabbed first-team all-MW after finishing third at the league championships with a time of 23:54.45.

The native of Kirkland, Washington, received his first All-America honor in cross country after he placed 12th with a time of 30:03.9 at the 2016 NCAA Championships. Prior to the national meet, Maggard garnered first-team all-region honors by placing eighth with a time of 31:02.20 at the NCAA Regional Championship and first-team all-MW accolades by placing fourth with a time of 24:08.10 at the conference championships.

Maggard competed in six meets during his junior campaign and registered four top-10 finishes, while leading the Aggies in every meet he competed in.

A grad transfer from BYU, Farnsworth competed in just one season for Utah State (2019-20), but made history in doing so.

The native of Pocatello, Idaho, became the first Aggie to ever capture the individual title at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships as he crossed the finish line in a championship-record time of  21:14.2. Farnsworth was tabbed the MW Men's Student-Athlete of the Year and garnered first-team all-MW accolades after helping USU capture its first-ever MW title with 42 team points.

Farnsworth made his Utah State debut at the Montana State Cross Country Classic, where he placed 15th with a time of 25:47.1. He later went on to finish eighth with a time of 23:38.6, helping lead the Aggies to their third-straight team title at the Lehigh-hosted Paul Short Run.

One year after Farnsworth captured the individual cross country title, Garnica followed suit at the 2020 MW Championships. The native of Springville, Utah, was named the MW Student-Athlete of the Year and earned first-team all-league honors after placing first with a time of 23:38.4 at the MW Championships.

Garnica went on to earn All-American honors after placing 28th with a time of 30:31.2 at the NCAA National Championships, where he led the Aggies to an 11th-place finish, their best in school history.

The 2023 Mountain West Championships will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, at Eagle Island Park in Eagle, Idaho. The men's 8K race is slated to begin at 10:15 a.m., with the women's 6K race scheduled for 11 a.m.

Following Friday's Mountain West Championships, the Aggies will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 10, at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships in Lubbock, Texas.

The NCAA Championships will take place eight days later on Saturday, Nov. 18, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
