Arronte Sanchez led Utah State to the team title at the inaugural Monterrey (Mexico) Collegiate Classic this past weekend at Club Campestre Monterrey. The Aggies shot a school-record 29-under 835 to edge runner-up North Dakota State by one stroke on the par-72, 7,141-yard course.
The native of Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, recorded his best-ever finish by placing second with a career-best 14-under 202. He tied for the tournament lead in par-3 scoring with an average of 2.87, as well as finished with a team-best 16 birdies, to go along with one eagle and 33 pars.
Arronte Sanchez's 14-under 202 ranks fifth all-time for the lowest 54-hole score in program history and his 13-under 131 after the first two rounds ranks second for the lowest 36-hole score.
Utah State's 29-under was 12 strokes better than the previous program record for a 54-hole score, which the Aggies shot during the 2022-23 season at the UC San Diego Invitational. USU's 11-under 277 in the second round is tied for seventh all-time in school history for an 18-hole score.
During the final 18 holes of play on Saturday, the Aggies shot a 10-under 278, which is tied for 10th all-time in school history. The victory marked Utah State's 22nd team title in program history, including its first since the 2020-21 campaign.
