POCATELLO, Idaho — Utah State men's tennis was represented by junior Sergi Micó Fenollar and freshman Philipp Rein on the first day of competition at the Idaho State-hosted Bengal Invite on Friday. 

Competition began with doubles play where Fenollar and Rein had a first-round bye in the East Draw and will compete in the semifinals on Saturday. 

In singles play, Rein was defeated by Idaho State senior Wikus Robbertse, 6-0, 6-1, in the East Draw. Rein continued play in the West Draw where he faced Utah senior Jayson Blando and came out victorious after a 6-4, 7-6 straight-set tiebreaker win. 

Fenollar took his Round of 16 singles match in a 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 third-set victory over Idaho State senior Hiroki Fujita and moved on to the East Draw quarterfinals where he defeated ISU senior Andreas Kramer in a straight-set 7-6, 6-2 win to move on to the semifinals. 

Utah State men's tennis continues singles and doubles play at the Bengal Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m.
