LOGAN, Utah – Utah State volleyball's
Shelby Capllonch has been named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. It is the second time the graduate senior outside hitter has earned the distinction this season.
The native of Honolulu, Hawaii, helped Utah State become the outright Mountain West regular season champions last week as USU defeated Boise State 3-1 and San José State 3-0. She logged 20 digs for the week, averaging 2.86 per set.
Against the Broncos, Capllonch logged 15 kills, nine digs, one assist and one service ace. Against the Spartans, she had 11 digs, nine kills and two aces. For the week, Capllonch recorded 24 kills, 20 digs, three aces and an assist.
The Aggies (22-5, 15-1 MW), who have now won 12-straight matches, will next face Fresno State (16-11, 10-6 MW) on the road on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. (MT).
