LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's gymnastics team will hold its annual Blue & White Intrasquad Meet on Friday, Dec. 8, inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 6 p.m.
The Aggies will perform routines on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise in a competition-style format. Admission is free and open to the public.
During the meet, there will be a visit from Santa Claus, who will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. Following the meet, Utah State will host a kid's clinic.
"I'm really excited for our team to get out there and showcase all the hard work they've been doing in the preseason." Utah State head coach Kristin White said. "It's going to be exciting to be in front of two judges and get a feel for what real competition is going to be like this year. I'm also excited to have all our fans back in the Spectrum supporting our student-athletes."
"We're also looking forward to the kid's clinic after the meet. Having our student-athletes engage with the community is one of my favorite things that we do, so it will be a great evening."
This meet will look different than previous seasons. In place of having a Blue team versus a White team, one team will have a full roster and will utilize two judges on their events, while the other team's events will be non-judged exhibition routines. This format will simulate in-season competition.
For kids 12 and under, there will be a free post-meet clinic with the Aggie gymnasts and coaching staff. Parents will need to fill out waivers at the marketing table located in front of Section S on the concourse before the event.
Utah State officially opens its season on the road at North Carolina for a quad meet on Friday, Jan. 5. Along with the Aggies and host Tar Heels, Rutgers and Ball State will join the competition, which begins at 5:30 p.m. (MT).
The Aggies return 11 gymnasts from last year's squad in graduates Lexi Aragon and Alivia Ostendorf, seniors Brianna Brooks, Jenna Eagles and Angel Stuart, juniors Amari Evans, Payton Gatzlaff and Dani Kirstine, and sophomores Avery Bibbey, Marley Peterson and Chelsea Southam.
Newcomers on the team include freshmen Lexi Boone, Sydney Jelen, Nyla Morabito, Riley Sorrell, Isabella Vater, Mya Witte and Hattie Wright, along with graduate transfer Juliette Boyer.
Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at www.UtahStateAggies.com.
