Box Score PROVO, Utah – Utah State women's tennis was defeated on the road by BYU, 7-0, on Saturday.
The Cougars took the doubles point despite the fight put on by the Aggies. Senior Sidnee Lavatai and partner Lisa Küng battled to win their match with a 7-5 score on court two. At the No. 1 position, partners Zeynep Naz Ozturk and Monique burton lost 6-4 after junior Laura Fernanda Eugenio De Hilario and graduate student Annaliese County were defeated on court three.
The Aggies fell during singles play as losses at all six positions took place.
At the second position, Küng battled till the end of the match. After dropping the first set, 7-5, Küng forced a second-set tiebreak before falling 7-6 (4) to end the match.
In the sixth position, sophomore Indya Nespor also forced a second set tiebreak after a close match. Nespor fell short in the tiebreak to lose the match, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
The Aggies continue their season with a match at home on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 11 am (MT) versus Idaho at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.
