Josh Pehrson has been named the Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Week, it was announced Thursday by the league office.
It is the first time in Pehrson's career that he has been honored by the MW.
Pehrson helped lead the Aggies to a third-place finish at the Pizza Hut/Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational, held Feb. 10-12 at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah. The 6-foot-5 junior was one of two Aggies to place in the top 10 as he tied for fourth with a career-best-tying 54-hole score of 6-under 210 (66-75-70) on the par-72, 6,781-yard course. It marked the best placing of his career.
The native of Kaysville, Utah, shot a career-low-tying 6-under 66 in the first round of the tournament as he had four birdies and an eagle.
For the tournament, Pehrson tied for sixth in par-5 scoring at 6-under, averaging 4.50 on par-5 holes. He made 39 pars during the three-day event, which ranked second for the event, nine birdies and one eagle.
Pehrson and the Aggies are back in action on Monday and Tuesday, March 27-28, at the UC San Diego Invitational, at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California.
