LINCOLN, Nebraska – Utah State women's tennis swept Utah Tech, 7-0, on Sunday to win the first home match of the dual match season.  

The Aggies took the lead during doubles play, defeating Utah Tech at all three doubles positions. At the first position, partners Monique Burton and Zeynep Naz Ozturk won, 6-3, while freshmen Maile Brilhante and Magdalena Nunez Pureco won their match scoring 7 straight points during the tiebreak. On court three, Lisa Küng and Annaliese County defeated their opponents in a 6-3 win. 

The momentum transferred into singles play as the Aggies took the rest of the available points. 

On court one, Ozturk won the first set with a 6-1 score. The second set was neck and neck until Ozturk took the seventh and decisive point. 

Utah State's Lisa Küng came to the courts with business to take care of at the number two spot. She outscored her opponent 6-0 in the first set and then won 6-2 in the second. 

Monique Burton added to her win streak at the third position by swiftly finishing her match in consecutive sets, earning Utah State's third point of the day. 

At the fourth and fifth position, Mexico natives Laura Fernanda Eugenio de Hilario and Magdalena Nunez Pureco won their matches in straight sets. 

As the final Aggie left, Jade Brilhante put on a show to end the day. Brilhante's first set was a close race until she pulled ahead and took the first set with a 6-4 win. Brilhante fell behind as her opponent took the second set with a 6-2 score. As all eyes were on her court, Jade outscored Utah Tech's Raquel Roshak 10-6 in a third-set super-tiebreak to finalize a sweep for Utah State. 

The Aggies hit the road on Saturday, Feb. 11, to face in-state rival BYU in Provo, Utah at 12:00 PM (MT).
