LOGAN, Utah — Utah State's track & field teams are slated to begin the 2023 outdoor season at the Willie Williams Classic hosted by the University of Arizona in Tucson.
The Willie Williams Classic will take place at the Roy P. Drachman Stadium on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25. The event is hosted by the University of Arizona and is a non-ticketed event. Competition is slated to begin on Friday at 2 p.m. (MT) with the men's hammer and will conclude on Saturday at 3:55 p.m. (MT) with the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays. A

USU will be joined in Tucson by athletes from Arizona, Northern Arizona, Grand Canyon, UTEP and New Mexico State among others.

Utah State heads into the outdoor season after the Aggie men placed fifth out of seven teams with 64 points at the 2023 Mountain West Indoor Championships, while the Aggie women finished 10th out of 11 teams with 30 points.
Last year in the outdoor season, Utah State's men's track and field team placed fifth at the MW Outdoor Championships with 90 points and the women finished seventh with 53.50 points. The Aggies came away with nine podium finishes across the four-day competition.
USU returned seven all-conference performances from the 2022 outdoor season. Senior
Camren Todd earned All-MW honors after placing second in the men's 10,000 meters with a time of 31:15.29. Junior
Max Wehrli earned the honor after recording the third-best time in program history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 8:43.11 to finish third in the event. Junior
Brennan Benson made the all-conference team in the 1,500 meters after taking third with a time of 3:49.23. Senior
Zach Meyer made the All-MW team as a member of the 4x100-meter relay team, placing third in the event with a time of 41.27.

Tori Bailey earned the honor in the discus after registering the second-best discus throw in Aggie history at 53.68 meters (176-1) to place third. Junior
Gavin Beierle represented the men's throwers on the all-conference team after placing second in the shot put with a mark of 16.97 meters (55-8.25). Junior
Kelton Chenworth was named to the all-conference team after placing second in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.06 meters (6-9.00).
