LA JOLLA, California – Utah State women's tennis was defeated on the road by UC San Diego, 5-2, on Wednesday.  

The Tritons took the doubles point despite the fight put on by the Aggies. Graduate student Monique Burton and senior Zeynep Naz Ozturk took their doubles set at the first position posting a 6-4 win. Senior Sidnee Lavatai and junior Lisa Küng battled but came up short with a 6-4 score on court two, and at the No. 3 position, graduate student Annaliese County and junior Maile Brilhante also posted a 6-4 loss in doubles play. 

Utah State fell short during singles play with only two points scored for the Aggies. 

At the second position, Naz Ozturk swiftly defeated her UCSD opponent in a straight-sets 6-2, 6-3 win. 

In the sixth position, sophomore Indya Nespor also forced a third set after a 6-7 (3) tiebreak loss, and then a 6-3 win to score the second point for the Aggies posting a third-set 7-5 win. 

Utah State continues its road trip with a match against UC Irvine Saturday, March 11, at 11 am (MT) in Irvine, California.
