LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's tennis freshman Nuno Pinheiro has been named the Mountain West Men's Freshman Tennis Player of the week, it was announced by the league Monday. Â

Pinheiro also went 2-0 across singles and doubles play as Utah State upset No. 67 Boise State last weekend. Playing with junior partner Stijn Paardekooper, the pair took a 6-4 win over their Broncos opponents.Â
Playing at the No. 6Â spot for singles, the freshman from Sintra, Portugal, defeated his opponent in a straight-sets 6-4, 6-2 win.Â
It is Pinheiro's third time receiving the honor from the Mountain West. He also won for the weeks ending February 26 and March 12.Â

The Utah State men's tennis team (10-12, 3-3 MW) will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to play in the Mountain West Conference Championship starting on Wednesday, April 26 through Saturday, April 29. The Aggies enter as the No. 4 seed and will take on fifth-seeded UNLV in the first round.Â
