LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head gymnastics coach Kristin White announced Wednesday the signing of Hattie Wright, who will compete for the Aggies in the 2024 season.

"We are thrilled to be adding Hattie to our 2023 recruiting class," White said. "I had the privilege of coaching Hattie at Dynamo Gymnastics for five years before leaving the club world and starting my NCAA journey. She is one of the hardest workers I have ever had the opportunity to work with.

"We are looking forward to having her work ethic in the gym every day. Hattie is a stellar bars worker and will be a great asset on the other three events, as well. I am excited to be reunited with her and am looking forward to guiding her throughout her four years here in Logan."

Wright is just the second gymnast to make her way to Cache Valley from Dynamo Gymnastics in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is following in the footsteps of Sarah Landes, who competed at Utah State from 2012-15 and is now working for her alma mater as the director of development.

"Competing in college is an absolute dream of mine and I am beyond excited to start this journey with Utah State," Wright said. "I would have never thought in a million years that my childhood club coach would also be my college coach. I could not be more thrilled and honored to work with coach Kristin again.

"I have always loved the college gymnastics atmosphere and energy, and I am very much looking forward to experiencing that at Utah State University."

The 5-foot-2 native of Edmond, Oklahoma, recently competed at the USA Gymnastics Development Program National Championships at the Oklahoma City Convention Center. Wright tied for 19th in the all-around, tied for 22nd on vault, tied for 21st on bars, tied for 29th on beam and tied for 34th on floor.

Overall, Wright finished in the upper third of the 676 gymnasts that competed at the national championships.

At the 2023 Oklahoma Optional State Championships, Wright was the top gymnast in the level 10 Senior A Division as she placed first in the all-around and bars, second on both vault and floor, and fourth on beam.

The daughter of Stephen and Leslie Wright was the salutatorian from the 2023 Epic Charter Schools graduating class. She earned academic all-state honors, was a member of the National Honor Society and made the Superintendent's Honor Roll.
