LOGAN, Utah – Mackenzie Masterson, former assistant director of compliance at Stetson University, was named Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at Utah State, it was announced Thursday.
Masterson will be responsible for assisting USU Associate AD for Compliance Tony Hearrell in all aspects of NCAA compliance, including risk management monitoring, preparing and submitting NCAA and Mountain West waivers, investigating and submitting violations, and reviewing and updating policies and procedures.
Masterson was previously at Stetson University in Deland, Florida, where she oversaw the day-to-day operations for the compliance department. Prior to that, she was at Tulsa, where she served as a compliance legal intern from January of 2021-23.
During her time with the Golden Hurricane, Masterson monitored, researched and provided compliance recommendations for the university officials and student-athletes.
Masterson earned two degrees from Oklahoma State in sports management and marketing, graduating in 2019 with a 3.29 GPA. In December of 2021, she earned her doctor of jurisprudence with honors from Tulsa.
During her second year of law school at Tulsa, Masterson founded the TU Sports & Entertainment Law Society.
