• Utah State went 1-1 last week with a 99-86 road loss to New Mexico and 83-62 home victory against Fresno State. Five Aggies scored in double figures against the Lobos as senior guard Ian Martinez had 22 points, redshirt freshman guard Mason Falslev had 19, junior wing Great Osobor had 15, junior guard Josh Uduje had 13 and graduate senior guard Darius Brown II had 11. Overall, USU shot 44.1 percent (30-of-68) from the field, 23.5 percent (4-of-17) from deep and 73.3 percent (22-of-30) at the free throw line, while UNM shot 57.4 percent (39-of-68) from the floor, 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from behind the arc and 94.1 percent (16-of-17) at the free throw line. Four Aggies scored in double figures against the Bulldogs, with Osobor leading the way with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Martinez added 14 points and Brown had 11, while Uduje scored 12 points off the bench. Overall, USU shot 55.0 percent (33-of-60) from the field, 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from deep and 70.6 percent (12-of-17) at the free throw line. FSU shot 41.4 percent (24-of-58) from the field, 28.0 percent (7-of-25) from behind the arc and 77.8 percent (7-of-9) at the charity stripe.

• Utah State women's basketball (3-15, 0-7 MW) continues its 2023-24 campaign with a single game this week as it hosts San Diego State (12-8, 3-2 MW) on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 6 p.m. The game will be streamed and be broadcast on the radio on 107.7 FM. • Utah State posted an 0-2 record last week with an 89-44 home loss to Nevada and a 76-41 loss at Boise State. Against the Wolf Pack, junior forward Skye Miller led USU with eight points. USU shot 34.1 percent (15-of-44) from the field, 12.5 percent (2-of-16) from 3-point range and 80.0 percent (12-of-15) from the free throw line. UN shot 49.2 percent (32-of-65) from the floor, 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from behind the arc and 88.2 percent (15-of-17) from the charity stripe. Against the Broncos, freshman forward Gracie Johnson tied a program record with eight blocks, becoming just the fifth player in program history to ever hit that mark. Junior forward Bridget Mullings fell just short of a double-double with eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds. USU shot 26.4 percent (14-of-53), including 10.0 percent (2-of-20) from 3-point range, and shot 84.6 percent (11-of-13) at the free throw line. BSU shot 33.8 percent (25-of-74), including 36.7 percent (11-of-30) from deep, and made 75.0 percent (15-of-20) of its free throws.

2nd, 195.375 --- at #36 Southern Utah/vs. #24 Arizona State
• Utah State posted a season-high 195.375 to place second at a tri meet against No. 24 Arizona State and hosted by No. 36 Southern Utah last weekend. USU began the meet with a 48.775 on bars, followed by season-highs of 48.750 on beam, 48.950 on floor and 48.900 on vault. ASU won the meet with a 196.200 and SUU placed third with a 195.075. This was USU's first win at Southern Utah since 2018. Senior Brianna Brooks and graduate student Juliette Boyer led USU with a pair of 9.850s on bars to tie for third on the event. The 9.850 is a season-high for Boyer. USU then scored a season-high 48.750 on beam as Aragon led the Aggies with a 9.800 and took sixth place. Junior Dani Kirstine placed seventh with a season-high 9.775, and in eighth place were Brooks and graduate student Alivia Ostendorf with a pair of 9.750s. Ostendorf's score was also a season-high. USU took the floor for the third rotation and scored a season-high 48.950. Ostendorf led the team with a season-high 9.850 to place fourth, while senior Jenna Eagles and sophomore Marley Peterson followed with a pair of 9.800s to place ninth. Peterson's score was a season high. The Aggies final rotation scored another season-high of 48.900 on vault. Ostendorf tied for fifth and posted her second 9.850 of the night, which is her season-high for the event. Freshman Nyla Morabito and junior Payton Gatzlaff earned a pair of 9.775s, which placed 11th, while Boyer and sophomore Chelsea Southam followed with season-high 9.750s and tied for 13th. Gatzlaff also had a season-high on vault.

• Utah State's indoor track & field teams will continue its 2024 indoor season on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26-27, when it competes at the New Mexico Invite and the Washington Invite.

• Utah State's men's and women's programs won the Weber State Team Invitational last weekend with team scores of 148.0 and 131.5, respectively. Individually, USU claimed nine titles and 32 additional top-five finishes. The first title of the competition was claimed by sophomore Logan Hammer who cleared 5.20 meters (17-0.75) to win the men's pole vault. Junior Kelton Chenworth won the high jump by topping a height of 2.06 meters (6-9.00). Chenworth also placed third in the long jump with a mark of 6.88 meters (22-6.75). The first women's title came in the triple jump where senior Sidnee Naerebout was victorious with a mark of 11.93 meters (39-1.75). Freshman Breanna Raven took second in the event with a mark of 11.68 meters (38-3.75), which moved her into 10th all-time in USU history. Junior Godwin Charles extended his winning streak to three consecutive titles in the men's triple jump as he took first with a mark of 15.44 meters (50-7.75). Charles also placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.80 meters (22-3.75). The first Aggie track title came in the women's 800 meters where senior Hannah Davidson finished with a time of 2:17.29. USU took four of the top five spots in the event as freshman Marion Packer placed second with a time of 2:17.58, freshman Julia Stuard was fourth with a time of 2:21.01 and senior Taylia Norris finished fifth with a time of 2:21.59. Junior Brennan Benson won the 800 meters for the Aggie men with a time of 1:52.88, while freshman Bradford Woodhouse took third with a time of 1:55.52. Junior Emma Reeves won the women's 200 meters with a time of 25.42. In the men's 200 meters, freshman Joseph Douglas placed second with a time of 22.94. Douglas also finished fifth in the 55-meter dash. In the men's 3,000 meters, senior Bridger Altice was victorious with a time of 8:27.59, while sophomore Caleb Armstrong and freshman Jedidiah Megargel placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 8:38.17 and 8:38.45. The last title of the competition was won in the women's 4x400-meter relay. The USU A team, consisting of Reeves, junior Adi Nielson, sophomore Alison Richter and senior Olivia Smith, took first with a time of 3:55.22. In the women's 55-meter hurdles, senior Abbey Bryant finished second with a time of 7.91 and sophomore Krysthina Vlahovic took third with a time of 8.03. Two Aggies placed top five in the women's 55-meter dash as Reeves placed third with a time of 7.30 and freshman Claire Petersen finished fourth with a time of 7.31. Junior Mimi Miyazawa took second in the women's mile with a time of 5:00.23, while senior Mattie Geddes finished fourth with a time of 5:02.87. Senior Mark Crandall claimed second in the men's mile with a time of 4:14.89 and freshman Joshua Armstrong came in right behind him in third with a time of 4:16.10. In the women's DMR, USU's A team, made up of senior Bailey Brinkerhoff-Todd, Davidson, Geddes and sophomore Ana Weaver, took second with a time of 12:13.37. On the men's side, USU's A team of Benson, freshman Landon Bott, freshman Rylan Anderson and sophomore Carter Guiness, placed second in the men's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:21.53. In the men's DMR, USU's A team comprised of sophomore Drew Hogan, senior Christopher Kauffman, Woodhouse and junior Max Wehrli, finished third with a time of 10:20.23. Other top-five finishes for the Aggie women included senior Autumn Kidd in the 400 meters (58.95, 5th), junior Emma Thornley in the 3,000 meters (10:00.67, 2nd), senior Abby Jensen in the 3,000 meters (10:00.75, 3rd), sophomore Sarah Ellis in the 3,000 meters (10:23.79, 5th), sophomore Hannah Lybbert in the high jump (1.65 meters (5-5.00), t-3rd), senior Inka Mehtola in the high jump (1.65 meters (5-5.00), t-3rd), and junior Mikayla Dalton in the pole vault (3.55 meters (11-7.75), 3rd). Other men's top-five finishes included Bott in the 400 meters (49.51, 2nd), freshman Samuel Beckwith in the long jump (6.89 meters (22-7.25), 2nd), and senior Gavin Beierle in the shot put (17.13 meters (56-2.50), 2nd).

• Utah State lost to Idaho State 5-2 in its opening match of the 2024 competition season last weekend. The Bengals earned the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court one and a 6-2 victory on court three. The Aggies scored their two points from singles play. Graduate senior Zeynep Naz Ozturk posted a straight-sets win against ISU's Asem Shoybek at the No. 2 spot (6-2, 6-4), and junior Indya Nespor swept Sydney Morris at the No. 5 spot (6-2, 6-4). Senior Lisa Küng fell in a three-set match at the No. 1 spot (6-4, 6-7 (3), 1-6). Freshman Ana Paula Chavez Sanchez lost in straight sets at the No. 3 spot (3-6, 3-6). Freshman Niyati Kukreti lost in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (6-7 (5), 3-6). And sophomore Magdalena Nunez Pureco lost in three-sets at the No. 6 spot (6-4, 5-7, 0-1 (7)).

• Utah State men's tennis (1-0, 0-0 MW) continues its 2024 spring season this weekend as it will play a doubleheader at UC San Diego (0-5) on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. (MT).

• Utah State posted a 6-1 home win against Weber State to begin its 2024 competition season last weekend. The Aggies took the lead early, earning the doubles point as senior Stijn Paardekooper and sophomore Nuno Pinheiro took the 7-6 (5) win at the first position, while freshman Stefan Vedouelli and graduate senior Bodin Zarkovic posted a 6-3 win at the second position. In singles, Zarkovic won in three sets at the No. 1 spot (4-6, 6-4, 6-2), Paardekooper won in straight sets at the No. 2 spot (7-6 (10), 7-5) and junior Sergi Micó Fenollar swept his match at the No. 3 spot (6-1, 6-2). At the No. 4 spot, sophomore Nuno Pinheiroi lost in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 3-6), freshman Mohammad Alkotop swept his match at the No. 5 spot (6-3, 6-3) and freshman Philipp Rein won in three sets at the No. 6 spot (5-7, 7-6, 1-0).
