LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's golf team will conclude its fall season this weekend by looking to defend its team title at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic in greater Monterrey, Mexico, on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25-26.
 
Golfers will play the par-72 Mitras-Silla Course at Club Campestre Monterrey, which plays at 7,141 yards. The 54-hole event, hosted by George Washington University, will feature a unique format with 27 holes being played on each day. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
 
Along with the Aggies and host Revolutionaries, the 12-team field includes Creighton, Davidson, Loyola (MD), North Dakota State, Richmond, Seattle, Tarleton State, UTRGV, Valparaiso and VCU.
 
Scheduled to compete for the Aggies are graduate John Cook (Aguora Hills, California), graduate Cole Enlow (Frisco, Texas), senior Julio Arronte (Xalapa,Veracruz, Mexico), senior Esteban Jaramillo (Bogota, Colombia) and sophomore Enrique Karg (Guadalajara, Mexico).
 
Utah State won last year's Monterrey Collegiate Classic with a school-record 29-under 835 (280-277-278). Arronte, a native of Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, led the Aggies as he placed second with a career-best 14-under 202 (65-66-71). Karg tied for 31st at last year's tournament with a 1-over 217 (74-72-71), Jaramillo tied for 35th at 2-over 218 (72-77-69) and Enlow tied for 39th at 3-over 219 (67-76-76).
 
In its last competition, Utah State finished second out of four teams at the Utah Collegiate Shootout with an 18-under 558 (285-273). Cook led USU with a career-best second-place finish as he shot an 8-under 136 (71-65). Arronte finished right behind Cook with a 7-under 137 (71-66) to tie for third.
 
Arronte has a stroke average of 70.27 over 11 rounds this fall to lead Utah State. Cook has a stroke average of 71.82 this fall, followed by Karg (72.36), Jaramillo (73.18) and Enlow (74.27).
