LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's Graduation Success Rate (GSR) stands at 91 percent for its student-athletes, it was announced by the NCAA national office Wednesday, a mark that ranks as the third-best in the Mountain West. Overall, this is USU's eighth consecutive year at 90 percent or higher.

The GSR is based on a comparison of the number of student-athletes who entered college and the number of those who graduated within six years of initial enrollment. The GSR subtracts student-athletes who depart for allowable exclusions (e.g. official church mission), as well as those who transfer but would have been academically eligible to compete had they returned to the institution.

"Our top priority at Utah State University is to provide our student-athletes with the best resources and opportunities for academic success, and ultimately, earning their degrees," said USU Vice President and Director of Athletics Diana Sabau. "The latest GSR report displays the dedication our student-athletes apply to their education, and the commitment by our coaches and staff to prioritize those student-athletes graduating as Aggies."

Graduation Success Rate Notes
  • Utah State achieved a perfect (100%) GSR score in six sports: golf, gymnastics, soccer, men's tennis, women's tennis and volleyball.
  • Utah State's men's tennis program has now had a perfect GSR for 16 consecutive years, while USU's golf and soccer programs have now hit that mark in each of the last seven years.
  • Ninety-three (93) percent of Utah State's teams improved or matched their GSR from the previous year.
  • Women's cross country/track & field (95), softball (95), football (88), men's cross country/track & field (84), women's basketball (80), and men's basketball (73) also excelled within the framework.

Along with the continued academic success of its student-athletes, Utah State concluded a historic 2023-24 academic year with a school-record four Mountain West Championships from its women's volleyball, women's soccer, men's basketball and men's tennis programs. And thus far during the 2024-25 calendar, USU has already claimed a MW soccer championship, while its men's cross country program has qualified for the NCAA Championships for just the fifth time in program history.
