MEET NOTES - Utah State Gymnastics Hosts Boise State, Iowa State and Texas Woman's Friday on Senior Night

LOGAN, Utah
– Utah State's gymnastics team continues its 2024 season this weekend as it hosts Mountain West foe-Boise State, along with Iowa State and Texas Woman's in a quad meet on Friday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. (MT).
 
Following the meet, Utah State will honor its six seniors in Lexi Aragon, Juliette Boyer, Brianna Brooks, Jenna Eagles, Alivia Ostendorf and Angel Stuart.

"We are also looking forward to honoring our six seniors for all their hard work and contributions to Utah State gymnastics. We will use this quad meet as preparation for our Mountain West Championships here in Logan in another month."

THE COMPETITION
Iowa State (4-5, 2-2 Big 12) is the No. 29 team in the country with an average score of 196.079, which includes a 49.150 average on vault to rank 18th nationally, a 48.979 average on bars to rank 29th in the nation, a 48.804 average on beam to rank 33rd nationally and a 49.146 on floor to rank 30th in the nation.
 
Individually, junior Hannah Loyim is 62nd in the nation in the all-around (39.179), junior Josie Bergstrom is tied for 18th in the nation on vault (9.875), freshman Noelle Adams is tied for 52nd in the nation on beam (9.846) and tied for 66th nationally on floor (9.879), and senior Loganne Basuel is tied for 152nd nationally on bars (9.800).
 
Boise State (8-3, 2-0 Mountain West) is ranked No. 33 in the nation with an average score of 195.954, which includes a 48.904 on vault to rank 40th in the nation, a 48.838 on bars to rank 41st nationally, a 48.988 on beam to rank 25th in the nation and a 49.225 on floor to rank 23rd nationally.
 
Individually, senior Courtney Blackson is first in the MW and tied for 52nd nationally on floor (9.887), and is second in the MW and tied for 87th in the nation on vault (9.829), while senior Emily Lopez is first in the MW and seventh in the nation on bars (9.917), and second in the MW and tied for 57th in the nation on beam (9.842).
  
Texas Woman's (3-9, 0-0 Midwest Independent) has an average score of 194.195, which ranks 56th in the nation, which includes a 48.730 on vault to rank 51st nationally, a 48.370 on bars to rank 56th nationally, a 48.190 on beam to rank 60th in the nation and a 48.905 on floor to rank 51st nationally.
 
Individually, senior Steelie King ranks 102nd in the nation in the all-around (38.800), senior Kaitlyn Hoiland ranks tied for 159th in the nation on vault (9.800) and tied for 152nd in the nation on bars (9.800), senior Madeline Gose ranks tied for 201st in the nation on beam (9.740) and junior Emma Brkljacic ranks tied for 203rd in the nation on floor (9.825).

SERIES HISTORY
Utah State and Iowa State will be meeting for just the sixth time in series history, with ISU holding a 3-2 advantage. This will be just the second-ever meeting between the two programs in Logan as USU posted a 194.575-194.175 win in 1999.

Utah State and Boise State will be meeting for the 116th time with the Broncos owning a slight 58-56-1 advantage. USU has a 28-17 advantage in meets held in Logan, while BSU has won three of the last five matchups, including three in a row. The Broncos won the last meeting between the two programs in Logan with a 196.075-193.325 victory last year.

Utah State leads the all-time series with Texas Woman's 10-3, which includes a 195.000-194.575 win at the Oklahoma Quad meet earlier this year. USU is 3-0 all-time in home meets against TWU, which includes a 193.350-191.125 win in 2006, which was the last time the Pioneers competed in Logan.

UTAH STATE NOTES
Utah State (4-10, 2-0 Mountain West) has an average score of 194.900 on the season to rank 48th in the nation, which includes a 48.96 on vault to rank 48th nationally, a 48.811 on bars to ranks 42nd in the nation, a 48.661 on beam to rank 41st nationally and a 48.632 on floor to rank 60th in the nation.
 
Individually, Brooks is third in the Mountain West and tied for 87th in the nation in the all-around (38.867), and second in the MW and tied for 88th in the nation on bars (9.839). Freshman Nyla Morabito is fifth in the MW and tied for 171st in the nation on vault (9.796). Aragon is fifth in the MW and tied for 108th in the nation on beam (9.800). And Ostendorf is fifth in the MW and tied for 194th in the nation on floor (9.829).

Utah State posted a 195.925-195.725 Mountain West home win against San José State last weekend. USU began the meet with a 48.850 on vault, followed by a 49.025 on bars, 48.900 on beam and 49.150 on floor. Ostendorf led the Aggies as she shared the vault title with a 9.825 and won the floor title with a season-high-tying 9.875. Junior Dani Kirstine tied for first on bars with a 9.850 and Aragon won the beam title with a 9.850.
