SPOKANE, Washington – Utah State women's tennis lost at Gonzaga 6-1 on Sunday to fall to 3-5 on the season. Gonzaga improved to 4-7 with the win.
 
The Bulldogs took the lead early in the match by clinching the doubles point with wins at the number one and two spots.
 
In singles, senior Laura Fernanda Eugenio De Hilario won in straight sets at the No. 3 spot with her opponent retiring (7-6 (6), 2-1, retired). Hilario earned the Aggies' only point for the day.
 
Graduate senior Zeynep Naz Ozturk fell at the No. 1 spot (2-6, 0-6), freshman Niyati Kukreti fell at the No. 2 spot (0-6, 3-6), freshman Ana Paula Chavez Sanchez lost in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (3-6, 0-6), junior Indya Nespor lost in three sets at the No. 5 spot (4-6, 6-3, 6-10) and the match finished with freshman Savannah Johnson losing at the No. 6 spot in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-10).
 
For its next matches, Utah State will head to California to take on Santa Clara and Sacramento State. USU will face the Broncos on Sunday, March 10, at 11 a.m. (MT) and the Hornets on Monday, March 11, at 2 p.m. (MT).
