Box Score Santa Clara, Calif. – Utah State women's tennis lost at Santa Clara 4-3 on Sunday to fall to 3-6 on the season, while Santa Clara improved to 4-6.
 
SCU took the lead early in the match by clinching the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 3 spots.
 
In singles at the No. 2 spot, senior Laura Fernanda Eugenio De Hilario won in straight sets (6-0, 6-4), junior Indya Nespor won in three in a tiebreak (6-4, 4-6, 1-0(7)) and freshman Magdalena Nunez Pureco won in three sets by winning in two different tie breaks (7-6(4), 3-6, 1-0(5)).
 
Graduate senior Zeynep Naz Ozturk fell at the No. 1 spot (0-6, 4-6), at No. 3 spot, freshman Niyati Kukreti lost in straight sets (7-5, 3-6) and at the No. 4 spot, freshman Ana Paula Chavez Sanchez fell in straight sets (4-6, 3-6).
 
USU will be back in action on Monday, March 11, at 2 p.m. (MT), taking on Sacramento State.
