Utah State Gymnastics Competes in Pair of Tri Meets This Weekend

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's gymnastics team will compete in a pair of tri meets this weekend to conclude its regular season. First, USU will face No. 5 Utah and No. 25 Stanford on Friday, March 15, in Salt Lake City at the Huntsman Center at 7 p.m. USU will then travel to Boise, Idaho, to compete against No. 26 Boise State and No. 17 Oregon State on Sunday, March 17, at noon.

Utah State's tri meet with Utah and Stanford will be streamed on the Pac-12 Network, while its tri meet with Boise State and Oregon State will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

"We are looking forward to the final stretch of the season," said second-year head coach Kristin White. "This weekend is crucial to improve our road score for our NQS. I am looking forward to seeing the hard work our team has put in over the last two weeks. They are motivated and hungry for success."


SERIES HISTORY
Utah State has already faced Utah and Boise State this year as the Utes posted a 197.725-193.600 win against the Aggies at the Rio Tinto Best of Utah Meet in January, while the Broncos notched a 197.025-196.275 win against USU in a quad meet hosted by the Aggies in February.


MEET NOTES
Utah State posted a 195.300 to place third at the Air Force-hosted tri meet with San José State two weekends ago. USU began the meet with a 48.225 on beam, followed by a 49.000 on floor, a 48.775 on vault and a season-high 49.300 on bars. USU won two event titles during the competition as graduate senior Alivia Ostendorf claimed the vault title with a 9.850 and sophomore Avery Bibbey won the bars title with a career-high 9.900.

Utah State (6-13, 2-3 Mountain West) has a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 195.575 on the season to rank 42nd in the nation, which includes a 48.855 on vault to rank 53rd in the nation, a 49.000 on bars to ranks 41st in the nation, a 48.755 on beam to rank 50th in the nation and a 49.100 on floor to rank 50th in the nation.

Individually, Brooks is sixth in the MW and tied for 118th in the nation on bars (9.855). Graduate Lexi Aragon is sixth in the MW and tied for 143rd in the nation on beam (9.830). And graduate Alivia Ostendorf is fifth in the MW and tied for 144th in the nation on floor (9.865), and is sixth in the MW and tied for 177th in the nation on vault (9.815).

Utah (10-4, 6-1 Pac-12) is the No. 5 team in the country with National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 197.765, which includes a 49.355 on vault to rank ninth nationally, a 49.455 on bars to rank sixth nationally, a 49.480 on beam to rank fourth nationally and a 49.575 on floor to rank sixth nationally.

Individually, senior Maile O'Keefe is second in the nation on beam (9.985). Junior Grace McCallum is 11th in the nation on bars (9.940) and tied for 18th in the nation on floor (9.940). And sophomore Makenna Smith is 24th nationally in the all-around (39.455) and tied for 28th in the nation on vault (9.890).

Stanford (1-10, 1-6 Pac-12) is ranked No. 25 in the nation with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 196.615, which includes a 489.065 on vault to rank 34th in the nation, a 49.330 on bars to rank 15th in the nation, a 49.285 on beam to rank 16th in the nation and a 49.285 on floor to rank 30th nationally.

Individually, senior Chloe Widner is 28th in the nation on bars (9.905). Junior Brenna Neault is 42nd in the nation in the all-around (39.300). Senior Ira Alexeeva is tied for 64th in the nation on beam (9.875). And sophomore Taralyn Nguyen is tied for 76th in the nation on vault (9.860) and tied for 110th in the nation on floor (9.880).

Boise State (16-4, 4-0 MW) is ranked No. 26 in the nation with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 196.610, which includes a 48.945 on vault to rank 45th nationally, a 49.210 on bars to rank 28th nationally, a 49.180 on beam to rank 27th nationally and a 49.310 on floor to rank 25th nationally.

Individually, senior Emily Lopez is first in the MW and 14th in the nation on bars (9.930). Senior Courtney Blackson is second in the MW and tied for 47th nationally on floor (9.910). And senior Adriana Popp is first in the MW and 50th in the nation on beam (9.885), and third in the MW and tied for 140th in the nation on vault (9.830). 

Oregon State (11-4, 5-3 Pac-12) is ranked No. 17 in the nation with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 197.000, which includes a 49.210 on vault to rank 19th in the nation, a 49.450 on bars to rank seventh in the nation, a 49.235 on beam to rank 23rd in the nation and a 49.285 on floor to rank 30th nationally.

Individually, junior Jade Carey is fourth in the nation on bars (9.955) and 15th in the nation on beam (9.925). Freshman Sophia Esposito is tied for 33rd in the nation on vault (9.885). And junior Kaitlin Garcia is tied for 119th in the nation on floor (9.875).
