TUCSON, Arizona — Utah State's golf team shot a 22-over 310 in its first round of the Arizona-hosted Thunderbirds Intercollegiate on Monday and was unable to finish its second round due to darkness.
 
Following the first round, Utah State was in 13th-place in the 14-team field.
 
Three teams were able to play 36 holes on Monday and host Arizona leads the field at 8-under 568 (283-285). Long Beach State is currently in second place at 2-under 574 (295-279).
 
Arizona's Sam Sommerhauser shot back-to-back rounds of 69 on Monday and sits atop the leaderboard at 6-under 138.
 
Junior Esteban Jaramillo shot an even par 72 during his first 18 holes for Utah State and was tied for 23rd. Senior Josh Pehrson carded a 5-over 77 and was tied for 36th place following his first 18 holes and senior John Cook was tied for 52nd after shooting an 8-over 80. Junior Julio Arronte Sanchez was tied for 65th after shooting a 9-over 81 and freshman Ashton McArthur was in 75th-place at 10-over 82 after 18 holes.
 
Teams will finish their second round Tuesday morning, before concluding the tournament with their final 18 holes later in the day.
