LOGAN, Utah – Utah State Athletics concluded a historic 2023-24 academic year with a school-record four Mountain West Championships, which tied for the second most in the conference. During the past year, USU claimed regular season championships in women's volleyball, men's basketball and men's tennis, along with a tournament title in women's soccer.

Those four championships are the most for Utah State in its 11 years as a member of the Mountain West as the Aggies joined the conference prior to the 2013-14 seasons.

The 2023-24 academic year also marked the first time in school history that its football, men's basketball, women's soccer and women's volleyball programs all competed in the postseason during the same academic calendar as men's basketball, women's soccer and women's volleyball participated in the NCAA Tournament, while football played in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

"We are proud of all our student-athlete achievements and hard work," said USU Vice President and Director of Athletics Diana Sabau. "Utah State University will continue to reach and rise within the Mountain West and NCAA. We are investing in our student-athletes and providing an increased impact for their performance and recovery. Our coaching staffs are committed to providing remarkable athletic competitive teaching and advantages. And our Logan community and University deserves more."

In addition to all the success Utah State had on the fields of play this past year, USU's student-athletes also excelled in the classroom as 94 Aggies earned academic all-MW honors from its fall sports, while 245 student-athletes were recognized at the annual Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Luncheon for earning a 3.2 or better GPA.

Utah State's student-athletes traditionally rank among the best in the Mountain West and this year that success continued with an NCAA Graduation Success Rate of 90 percent, one of four MW institutions to be at 90 percent or higher, and a cumulative 3.30 grade-point average.

Furthermore, the 2024 spring semester marked the 44th-consecutive term that Utah State student-athletes have recorded a 3.0 or higher cumulate GPA, dating back to the fall of 2002. In fact, just over 75 percent of USU's student-athletes earned a 3.0 or higher GPA this spring as 54 student-athletes were named to the Dean's List for having at least a 3.5 GPA with 15 or more credit hours.

Overall, it is the ninth time that USU has won four or more conference championships in one academic year. The school record for conference championships is five, which was accomplished in the Western Athletic Conference during the 2008-09 season, and in the Big West Conference during the 1997-98 and 1993-94 seasons.
