LOGAN, Utah — Utah State track & field sophomore
Krysthina Vlahovic has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, May 5. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With its sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Vlahovic, a native of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, won the women's 100-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 13.78 at the Oregon Twilight meet this past weekend. Vlahovic improved her mark to the 10th-best time in USU history. That time ranks seventh in the Mountain West this season.
Utah State returns to action on Thursday through Saturday, May 9-11 in the Mountain West Outdoor Championships in Clovis, California. Fresno State is serving as the host institution.

SOFTBALL – Junior infielder Ariel Fifita (San Marcos, California) led Utah State in an 0-3 showing last week as the Aggies dropped three games to San José State in their final series of the year (L, 10-2 (5); L, 7-6; L, 7-4). Fifita began the week with a perfect 3-for-3 showing on Thursday with a home run, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. She followed that with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate on Friday with a pair of singles, then again went 2-for-4 on Saturday, recording a double and a home run with two RBIs and a run scored. In total, Fifita hit .636 (7-for-11) on the week with two runs scored, four RBIs, two home runs, a double and a stolen base. She also recorded four putouts with eight assists.
