LOGAN, Utah — Utah State track & field sophomore Logan Hammer has qualified for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the men's pole vault. The top three finishers in each event will represent the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"It's a dream come true to be able to compete at the Olympic trials this year," Hammer said. "I set a goal at the beginning of the season to be able to vault at the Olympic trials and now to have the hard work that I've put in show is amazing. I've had amazing support from my coaches, fiancé, and family. And the support that I've received from Utah State has made all the difference in helping me to get where I am now. I just have to say thank you and Go Aggies!"

Hammer's qualifying clearance of 5.62 meters came at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships where he won gold while setting the Utah State, meet and MW records. The second-team All-American capped off his collegiate season last week when he finished 16th at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a clearance of 5.22 meters (17-1.5).

"Super proud and excited that Logan will have the opportunity to compete in the Olympic Trials," said Artie Gulden, USU's director of track & field and cross country. "It will be the first time in a long while the Utah State uniform will make an appearance at the meet. This experience should be the cherry on top of his fantastic season, both for him and our jumps coach Erik Rasmussen."

Former Aggies Chari Hawkins and Dillon Maggard have also qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials. Hawkins will compete in the women's heptathlon, an event in which she is currently ranked 12th in the world and third in the United States. Maggard will compete in the men's 5,000 meters as he posted a qualifying time of 13:22.94 and 10,000 meters with a qualifying time of 27:47.60.

"Best of luck to the two Aggie alums, Chari Hawkins and Dillon Maggard, also competing in the Trials," Gulden said.

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials will be nationally broadcast on NBC, Peacock and USA Network from June 21-30.
