Utah State Women’s Tennis Announces 2024 Fall Roster

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis head coach Veronika Golanova announced the team's 2024 fall roster. The roster includes returners Indya Nespor, Niyati Kukreti, Magdalena Nunez Pureco and Cielo Tapia-Cruz, along with the addition of Olivia Halvorsen, Natalie Paterova, Ana Sabikova and Kylee Sperry.
 
Nespor, a senior letterwinner from Encinitas, California, returns for her third year as an Aggie. During the dual competition 2023-24 season, Nespor posted a 10-6 singles and a 2-3 doubles record. Nespor opened last season with a four-match win streak in singles play, including a win against BYU (2/2/2024). 
 
Kukreti and Nunez Pureco are two letterwinners who will be returning to the USU squad. Kukreti, native to Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, returns for her sophomore campaign. During her freshman season, she posted a 2-12 record in singles and a 6-10 record in doubles play. Nunez Pureco, a junior from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, complied a 3-10 singles record and 4-6 doubles record during the 2023-24 dual competition season. 
 
Tapia-Cruz also returns for her senior year. Tapia-Cruz is from Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, and did not compete during the 2023-24 dual competition season due to injury. Prior to USU, she attended North Carolina A&T, where she compiled a singles record of 15-9 and a doubles record of 12-12. 
 
Halvorsen, a junior transfer from Milton, Ontario, Canada, is joining USU for the 2024-25 season. Halvorsen spent her first two years of eligibility at North Texas, where she had an overall 9-4 record in singles play and was 12-7 in doubles play. 
 
Paterova, an incoming freshman, is from Kladno, Czech Republic. She attended Sportovní Gymnázium Kladno for high school, where she earned first and third place at the Children's Olympic Games of the Czech Republic in doubles. 
 
Sabikova, an incoming freshman and anative of Zlate Moravce, Slovakia, held an International Tennis Federation (ITF) career-high junior ranking of 2478 for the rankings released in January of 2022. She attended Gymnasium of Andrej Vrabel for high school, where she earned the Excellent Result and Representation of School award. 
 
Sperry, an incoming freshman and a Utah native, attended Skyridge High School. She was a four-time letterwinner and helped her team win four-consecutive state championships. Sperry was recently a singles finalist for the Of Love Women's Open tournament.
