LOGAN, Utah — Freshman Michael Moffat was named Mountain West Men's Cross Country Freshman of the Week, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.
Moffat finished in seventh place with a time of 23:41.3 in the men's 8K at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday. In his second-ever collegiate race, the Saratoga Springs, Utah native was the third scorer for USU, helping the Aggies to a second-place finish behind Cal Baptist.
This is the first MW weekly honor of Moffat's career. Moffat is the third consecutive Aggie to earn Freshman of the Week honors, joining freshmen Jedidiah Megargel and Luke Stockett.
Utah State travels east to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, next weekend for the Paul Short Run on Saturday, Oct. 5. The men will begin racing at 7:30 a.m. (MT), followed by the women at 8:15 a.m. (MT).
