Box Score POCATELLO, Idaho - Utah State women's tennis kicked off its 2024 fall season with a pair of doubles titles and two consolation singles crowns at the Idaho State Invitational this weekend.
In doubles play, sophomore
Niyati Kukreti and freshman
Kylee Sperry won the Bracket A Championship with a 3-0 record, which included an 8-5 win in the finals, while senior Cielo Tapia Cruz and freshman
Natalie Paterova won the Bracket B Championship with a 3-0 record, including an 8-7 (1) win in the finals.
In singles play, Paterova won the consolation finals of the Black Draw with a 3-1 record, which included a straight sets win (6-1, 6-2) in the finals, and Kukreti won the consolation finals of the Orange Draw with a 2-1 record, which included a straight sets win (6-2, 6-3) in the finals.
On day one of the tournament in doubles play, Kukreti and Sperry posted an 8-7 (6) win in Bracket A, while Tapia-Cruz and Paterova got a first-round bye in Bracket B. USU's third doubles pairing of freshman

Magdalena Nunez Pureco lost 8-4 in their opening match.
In Friday's singles play, Sperry won in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) and Tapia-Cruz got a first-round bye to advance to the quarterfinals. Nunez Pureco, Kukreti and Paterova all fell in their first-round singles matches.
On day two of the tournament, Paterova and Tapia-Cruz posted an 8-3 doubles win, while Kukreti and Sperry posted an 8-6. Tapia-Cruz won in her quarterfinal match while Sperry fell in her semifinal singles match in three sets (3-6, 6-1, 7-6(4)). Tapia-Cruz later fell in her semi-final singles match.
USU women's tennis heads to Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday thru Sunday, Sept. 13-15 to compete in the Bedford Cup hosted by Air Force.
