Utah State Gymnastics Competes at Air Force Friday Night

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State gymnastics continues its 2025 season on Friday, Jan. 24, in a Mountain West dual meet at Air Force at 7 p.m. It will be the first conference meet of the season for both programs. The meet will be streamed live on the MW Network and live scoring will be available via Virtius.

"We are looking forward to building off the moment we created at the Best of Utah Meet on Monday. It is a quick turnaround for our meet at Air Force, but the women are prepared and ready to compete. We will be trying a couple new lineups this weekend and I am excited to see how the athletes respond and compete. We are excited for conference play to begin. The team is hungry and ready to bring it."
 
UTAH STATE NOTES
Utah State is ranked 42nd in the nation following the third weekend of competition with an average score of 194.300. USU began the season with a 194.450 at Utah and then scored a 194.150 against Southern Utah. In its last outing, USU scored a season-high 196.000 at the Best of Utah Meet on Monday.
 
Utah State ranks 32nd in the nation on beam (48.763), 38th on bars (48.663), 44th on vault (48.600) and 59th on floor (48.275).
 
Individually, graduate Brianna Brooks is tied for 47th in the nation on bars (9.850). Sophomore Nyla Morabito is tied for 56th in the nation on floor (9.850). Sophomore Sydney Jelen is tied for 67th in the nation on beam (9.825). Freshman Kaylie Medrano is tied for 78th in the nation in the all-around (38.125).
 
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Air Force ranks 56th in the nation with an average team score of 193.413. The Falcons are 45th in the nation on bars (48.633), 54th on beam (48.375), 57th on floor (48.450) and 61st in the nation on vault (48.513).
 
Sophomore Maggie Slife ranks 30th in the nation in the all-around (39.225), while freshman Alyssa Bigler is 85th (38.238). Slife is AFA's top gymnast in all four events as she is tied for 30th in the nation on floor (9.875), tied for 63rd on bars (9.838), tied for 159th on vault (9.763) and tied for 177th on beam (9.750).
 
SERIES HISTORY
Utah State is 16-2 all-time against Air Force, including a 6-1 road record. The programs faced one another three times last year with USU posting a 194.950-193.925 home win on Jan. 26, 2024, and a 196.500-195.450 win on March 23, 2024, in the Mountain West Championships. Air Force's win last year came at home by a final score of 195.650-195.300.
