Utah State Gymnastics Competes in Tri Meet at Boise State on Friday

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State gymnastics continues its 2025 season on Friday, Jan. 31, in a tri meet at Mountain West-foe Boise State, along with Sacramento State, at 7 p.m. The meet will be streamed live on the MW Network and live scoring will be available via Virti.us.

"We have been hit with some injuries and a lot of illnesses the last couple of weeks. This team has continued to push forward and work hard to be ready to give it their all each week. UTAH STATE NOTES
Utah State is ranked 35th in the nation heading into the fifth weekend of competition with an average score of 194.950. USU ranks first in the Mountain West and 23rd in the nation on beam (48.894), first in the MW and 32nd in the nation on vault (48.775), second in the MW and 35th in the nation on bars (48.950) and second in the MW and 57th in the nation on floor (48.481).
 
Individually for Utah State, sophomore Sydney Jelen ranks first in the MW and is tied for 38th in the nation on beam (9.850). Graduate Brianna Brooks is second in the MW and 47th in the nation in the all-around (39.100) and second in the MW and tied for 62nd in the nation on bars (9.837). Sophomore Nyla Morabito is tied for first in the MW and tied for 79th in the nation on vault (9.819).
 
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Boise State is ranked 34th in the nation with an average team score of 194.963. The Broncos are first in the Mountain West and 23rd in the nation on bars (48.994), second in the MW and 26th in the nation on beam (48.850), third in the MW and 39th in the nation on vault (48.688), and third in the MW and 59th in the nation on floor (48.431).
 
Senior Emily Lopez ranks first in the MW and 11th in the nation on bars (9.888) and third in the MW and tied for 86th in the nation on beam (9.813). Senior Alyssa Vulaj ranks first in the MW and is tied for 79th in the nation on vault (9.819). Senior Elaina McGovern ranks second in the MW and is tied for 105th in the nation on floor (9.825).
 
Sacramento State is ranked 47th in the nation with an average team score of 194.106. The Hornets are 25th in the nation on beam (48.856), 45th in the nation on bars (48.406), 51st in the nation on vault (48.519) and 63rd in the nation on floor (48.325).
 
Freshman Kaitlyn Driessen is tied for 38th in the nation on beam (9.850), sophomore Rose Wilson is tied for 185th on bars (9.750), junior Sarah Lutrel is tied for 190th on vault (9.756) and sophomore Athena Jones is tied for 194th in the nation on floor (9.763).
 
SERIES HISTORY
Utah State is 58-59-1 all-time against Boise State, including an 18-22-1 road record. USU has lost each of its last six meetings against BSU and its last win against the Broncos was on March 31, 2022, when it posted a 196.825-196.425 neutral site win at the NCAA Regionals in Norman, Okla. The last time USU won at Boise State was on March 19, 2022, by a final score of 197.025-196.550 as it won the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Championship. 
 
Utah State is 12-15 all-time against Sacramento State, including a 7-4 neutral site record. The last time USU faced the Hornets was on Feb. 21, 2020, when it posted a 196.800-192.700 neutral site win at the Boise State Quad Meet.
