LOGAN, Utah – Utah State soccer senior forward Tess Werts has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Oct. 12. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With their sponsorship of the student-athlete of the week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Werts led Utah State to a 7-1 win over Fresno State last week with a record-setting performance. Against the Bulldogs, she scored four goals, setting a new program record and matching the Mountain West Conference record. She played just 55 minutes and took four shots, all of which found the back of the net as she scored in the 25th, 27th, 59th and 67th minutes. Werts is the first Aggies to score three goals in a game since 2018 and is just the fifth player in MW history to score four goals in a conference game.

Utah State (5-5-4, 2-1-2 MW) will head on the road this week for two conference games, facing New Mexico on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m., then San Diego State on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. (MT).
TICKETS
Fans can purchase season tickets now here. Adult season tickets are available for $100, while youth can gain access to all games by joining the Junior Aggie Kids Club for $40. All seating at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field is general admission. Seating in the stadium bleachers is first come, first served. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for grass and berm seating.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY – Junior Drew Hogan (Syracuse, Utah) took eighth place in the 7K race at the Utah State-hosted Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational. His finishing time of 21:37.2 helped the Aggie men to a fourth-place team finish out of seven teams with 83 points. He posted his best 7K finish since 2023 and best 7K time since 2024.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY – Sophomore Alayna Wardle (Herriman, Utah) finished in seventh place in the 5K race at the Utah State-hosted Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational, leading the Aggie women to the team title. She posted a time of 19:03.3, earning the best cross country finish of her career.
FOOTBALL – Graduate running back Miles Davis (Las Vegas, Nevada) rushed for 102 yards on a career-high 15 attempts in Utah State's 44-26 Mountain West loss at Hawai'i. Davis scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter. Overall, it is his second 100-yard rushing game of the season and the third of his career.
GOLF – Sophomore Toby Heider (Kimberly, Idaho) was Utah State's top finisher at the Pacific-hosted Visit Stockton Invitational as he tied for 23rd at 2-under 214 (73-71-70) for his best-ever 54-hole score and best-ever finish. It is the third time he has finished a tournament under par, including the second time this fall. After carding a 1-over 73 during his first round, Heider shot a 1-under 71 during his second round and then fired a 2-under 70 during his final 18 holes to give him five rounds under par in his career, including three this fall. Utah State finished the 17-team tournament tied for 13th at 23-over 887 (307-286-294).
SOCCER – Senior forward Tess Werts (Portland, Oregon) helped Utah State to a 1-0 week with a 7-1 home win against Fresno State. Against the Bulldogs, Werts set a program record and tied a Mountain West Conference record as she scored four goals. MEN'S TENNIS – Sophomore Roman Venger (Lviv, Ukraine) led Utah State at the 68th Annual Intercollegiate Championships, reaching the quarterfinal round of singles play with a pair of victories. Venger, seeded fifth overall in the tournament, defeated San Diego State's William Kleege in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) and Cal Poly's No. 4-seeded Jovan Lubbe in three sets (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) before falling to the tournament's No. 1 overall seed in the quarterfinals.
WOMEN'S TENNIS – Sophomore Maria Paula Ramos Garcia (Guatemala City, Guatemala) led Utah State at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships with a pair of singles victories. Ramos Garcia defeated Montana's Kate Prichard in straight sets (7-5, 6-3) in the opening round of qualifying before a second-round defeat. In an extra match for the weekend, Ramos Garcia also took down Denver's Claudia Martinez de Velasco in straight sets (6-2, 6-1).
VOLLEYBALL – Junior libero Kendel Thompson (Idaho Falls, Idaho) led USU with 34 total digs and added eight assists and two aces in a pair of Mountain West wins at Wyoming (3-1) and Colorado State (3-0). Thompson averaged 4.86 digs per set for the week to help the Aggies hold their opponents to a .142 hitting percentage. Thompson recorded 20 digs against Wyoming, her fourth match this season with at least 20 digs, and added two assists and an ace. Against the Rams, Thompson finished with 14 digs as USU held the Rams to a .135 hitting percentage. Thompson also added six assists and one ace in the road sweep.
