LOGAN, Utah – A pair of Utah State soccer players earned Mountain West weekly honors following the team's 7-1 win over Fresno State last week, as senior forward Tess Werts was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week and graduate defender Carli Conner earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Werts, a native of Portland, Oregon, had a record-setting performance in the win as she scored four goals. This set a new program record and matched the Mountain West Conference record. She played just 55 minutes and took four shots, all of which found the back of the net as she scored in the 25th, 27th, 59th and 67th minutes. Werts is the first Aggies to score at least three goals in a game since 2018 and is just the fifth player in MW history to score four goals in a conference game.
Conner, a native of Fruita, Colorado, recorded two assists in the win over Fresno State while also anchoring the Aggie defensive back line. As a team, USU allowed just four shots with just a single shot on goal in the contest. The lone Bulldog goal was an own goal. Conner played 84 minutes in the contest, assisting on goals in the 25th and 59th minutes.
This is the first career MW weekly honor for both players.

Utah State (5-5-4, 2-1-2 MW) will head on the road this week for two conference games, facing New Mexico on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m., then San Diego State on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. (MT).

All seating at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field is general admission. Seating in the stadium bleachers is first come, first served. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for grass and berm seating.
