LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women's tennis lost at in-state rival BYU Friday afternoon by a final score of 6-1. USU is now 2-4 on the spring season.
Doubles
BYU claimed the doubles point with wins at the first and second position. Junior
Olivia Halvorsen and freshman
Kylee Sperry lost their match at the first position 6-1, while seniors
Indya Nespor and
Cielo Tapia-Cruz lost at the second position 7-5. Freshmen
Natalie Paterova and
Maria Paula Ramos Garcia had their match at the third position left unfinished as the duo was trailing 5-4.
Singles
Utah State's lone point was at No. 6 singles as BYU withdrew, giving Sperry the win by default. Freshman
Ana Sabikova took her match at the No. 4 spot to three sets before falling (6-0, 6-7 (8-6), 10-2). Halvorsen lost in straight sets at the No. 1 spot (6-2, 6-1). Nespor lost in straight sets at the No. 2 spot (6-2, 6-3). Paterova lost in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (7-6 (7-4), 6-1) and Ramos Garcia lost in straight sets at the No. 5 spot (6-4, 6-1).
