ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Utah State track & field earned 20 team points and posted three performances that rank in the top-10 in school history in the multi-events and distance runs at the 2025 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Thursday.
Senior
Emma Thornley scored the Aggies' first points of the championships as she finished fourth in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 16:41.20. New Mexico's Pamela Kosgei won the competition and set a Mountain West championship record with her time of 15:53.72.

Mimi Miyazawa added to the Utah State tally with a fifth-place finish time of 11:49.89. Their mark ranks seventh all-time in USU history. Boise State won the women's DMR in 11:20.20.

Brennan Benson earned all-conference honors for the third consecutive season as Utah State clocked in at 9:42.46 to finish second. The quartet posted the second-fastest time in school history, only behind the time of 9:32.31 set by Jordan Beutler, Brady Martin, Clay Lambourne and All-American Dillon Maggard in 2018. For his part, Benson became a member of four of the top-10 DMR teams at USU. New Mexico won the event with a time of 9:41.11.
Junior
Sophie Chandler finished the pentathlon competition strong, placing second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.77 to secure a sixth-place overall finish. The Snow Canyon HS product scored 3,588 points, the ninth-best score in Utah State history in the event and the highest score since 2019.
In the heptathlon, junior
Javin Richards set three personal bests in Thursday's four events. The native of Perry, Ohio, sits in fifth place in the competition with 2,870 points, while graduate
Caden Dupee currently resides in seventh place with a score of 2,787 points. The competition will conclude on Friday with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run.
After two events, the Aggie men sit in second place with eight points while the USU women sit in fourth place, having earned 12 points after three of the 17 events. New Mexico leads both team competitions with 42 and 19 points, respectively.
Friday's competition will also include the prelims of the 60 meters, 60-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and mile. In the field, the men's slate will include the weight throw and long jump, while the women's schedule includes the long jump, pole vault, weight throw and high jump.
