Box Score LOS ANGELES, California – Utah State women's tennis posted a 6-1 neutral court win against Illinois State here on Monday to improve to 5-5 on its spring season.
 
Doubles
Utah State won the doubles point with victories at the first and third position. Junior Olivia Halvorsen and sophomore Niyati Kukreti notched a 6-2 win at the first position, while seniors Indya Nespor and Cielo Tapia-Cruz recorded a 6-3 win at the third position. Freshmen Natalie Paterova and Maria Paula Ramos Garcia lost their match at the second position 6-3.
 
Singles
In singles, Utah State won five of the six matches. Kukreti started things off with a victory at the No. 3 spot (6-0, 6-2) and Paterova won at the No. 4 spot (6-1, 7-5). Halvorsen won at the No. 2 spot (1-6, 6-4, 1-0) and Ramos Garcia won at the No. 6 spot (6-3, 4-6, 6-2). Illinois State's only victory on the day was at the No. 5 spot as USU freshman Ana Sabikova lost in three sets (0-6, 7-6 (3), 1-0 (10-8)). Nespor then closed the match at the No. 1 spot with a three sets win (6-7 (3), 6-4, 1-0 (10-8)).
 
Next Up
Utah State returns to action this weekend as it begins Mountain West play by hosting San José State on Friday, March 14, and Fresno State on Sunday, March 16, respectively. Both matches will be played at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club at 11 a.m.
