TUCSON, Arizona – Utah State gymnastics posted its second-best road score of the season with a 195.875, highlighted by a season high 49.175 on beam, here at the McKale Center Friday night. Overall, it is USU's fourth best score this year. No. 21 Arizona won the meet with a 196.400.
 
During the night, Utah State won three event titles and posted six career highs.
 
Utah State began the meet on the bars and scored 49.050, followed by 48.600 on vault, 49.050 on floor and a season high 49.175 on beam. It is the fifth time this year that USU posted scores of at least 49.000 on bars and floor, and the sixth time it scored at least a 49.000 on beam.
 
Arizona scored 49.025 on vault, 48.975 on bars, 48.975 on beam and 49.425 on floor.
 
The Aggies had to compete without two gymnasts as sophomores Hattie Wright and Nyla Morabito both suffered injuries during warmups. Morabito ranks second in the Mountain West on both vault and beam with National Qualifying Scores of 9.830 and 9.865, respectively.
 
Freshman Kaylie Medrano, a native of Buckeye, Arizona, had her best meet as an Aggie as she tied her career high with 9.825 on vault, tied her career high with 9.850 on floor and posted a career high 9.850 on beam. Medrano tied for first on vault, tied for third on beam and tied for sixth on floor. Her vault title is the first title of hcr career.
 
Graduate Brianna Brooks added two more titles to her illustrious career as she tied for first on bars with a score of 9.850 and tied for first on beam with 9.875. It is the sixth time in her last seven competitions that Brooks has posted at least a 9.875 on beam.
 
For Brooks, she has now claimed 23 event titles in her career with nine on beam and eight on bars, to go along with five in the all-around and one on vault. Her nine beam titles are the fourth most in school history, while her eight bar titles are tied for the seventh most in program history.
 
Brooks has now won 11 event titles this season, which are tied for the eighth most in school history by a senior. Her seven beam titles this year are tied with Tana Davis (1990) for the most in program history.

Rotation One – Bars (49.050)
Utah State opened the meet with a bars score of 49.050, which is its fifth score above 49.000 on the apparatus this season. Brooks highlighted this rotation for the Aggies as she tied for first on the event with a score of 9.850. Freshman Olivia Orengo scored 9.775 in the leadoff spot, followed by 9.725 from sophomore Sydney Jelen. Freshman Lundyn VanderToolen then scored 9.825 to tie for third, followed by 9.800 from junior Avery Bibbey. Brooks then scored her 9.850 and senior Dani Kirstine finished the rotation with 9.800.

Rotation Two – Vault (48.600)
Utah State moved to vault for its second rotation and scored 48.600. Freshman Kaylie Medrano led the Aggies with a career-high-tying 9.825 to tie for first on the event. Brooks began the rotation with 9.625, followed by 9.750 from VanderToolen and 9.750 from senior Payton Gatzlaff. Medrano then scored 9.825. Graduate Angel Stuart scored 9.625 and graduate Jenna Eagles concluded the rotation with 9.650.

Moving to floor for its third rotation, Utah State scored 49.050 for its fifth floor score this year of 49.000 or higher. Sophomore Isabella Vater led the Aggies with a career-high-tying 9.875 in the final spot of the rotation to tie for fourth. Eagles got the Aggies started with a score of 9.800, followed by an 8.900 from junior Marley Peterson. Stuart followed with 9.700, Orengo scored 9.825 and Medrano posted a career-high-tying 9.850, followed by Vater's 9.875.

Utah State finished the competition with a season high 49.175 on beam for the sixth score of 49.000 or better on the event this season. Brooks tied for first on beam with 9.875 and Medrano tied for third with a career high 9.850. Jelen started the rotation with 9.850, followed by 9.775 from Eagles and a career high 9.825 from Orengo. Medrano then posted her 9.850, followed by Brooks' score of 9.875. Vater concluded the event with a career-high-tying 9.725.

Utah State travels to San Jose, California, next weekend to compete in the 2025 Mountain West Championships, hosted by San José State, on Saturday, March 22, at 3 p.m. (MT). USU finished second at the inaugural MW Championships last year, which the Aggies hosted, with a team score of 196.500.
