LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women's tennis lost a Mountain West match to Fresno State by a final score of 4-2 here inside the Sports Academy & Racquet Club on Sunday. USU is now 5-7 on the spring season, including an 0-2 mark in conference play.
Doubles
Utah State claimed the doubles point as freshmen
Natalie Paterova and
Maria Paula Ramos Garcia posted a 6-0 win at the third position, while junior
Olivia Halvorsen and sophomore
Niyati Kukreti recorded a 6-2 win at the first position. Senior
Indya Nespor and junior
Cielo Tapia-Cruz had their match at the second position left unfinished as the duo was leading 5-3.
Singles
Fresno State won the first three singles matches to go up 3-1. Sofia Pizzoni defeated Halvorsen in straight sets at the No. 2 spot (6-4, 6-0), Andjela Lopicic defeated Kukreti in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (6-4, 6-6 (7-2) and Charlotte Gisclon defeated Paterova in three sets at the No. 3 spot (1-6, 6-2, 6-3). Nespor then got USU back in the match with a three-set win at the No. 1 spot (6-3, 3-6, 7-5). The Bulldogs closed the match out with a straight set win at the No. 5 spot as Paulina Montiel defeated Ramos Garica (6-1, 6-4). At the No. 6 spot, freshman
Kylee Sperry had her match left unfinished with the score tied 4-4 in the first set.

Utah State returns to the court next weekend as it continues Mountain West play at New Mexico on Friday, March 21 at noon and at Air Force on Sunday, March 23, at 10 a.m.
