HISTORY
Utah State looks to snap a six-match skid against New Mexico as the two teams face off on Friday. The Lobos lead the all-time series 12-1, with the Aggies' lone victory coming in a thrilling 4-3 home win in 2018. New Mexico has won each of the four previous meetings in Albuquerque. Last season, the Lobos claimed a 4-0 win in Logan.
On Sunday, Utah State will take on Air Force in a closely contested series that the Falcons lead 10-6. The Aggies have found success at home, going 4-4 in Logan, and have also secured two neutral-site victories. USU will aim to build on last year's 4-3 home win over Air Force and earn its first road victory of the series as AF has taken each of the first four matches in Colorado Springs.
ICYMI
Utah State battled through a tough weekend in Mountain West play, going 0-2 against San José State and Fresno State. Against SJSU, the Aggies secured a point in singles play as sophomore Niyati Kukreti fought back for a three-set victory (5-7, 6-3, 6-0) at the No. 4 spot. Freshman Natalie Paterova was also in position to win her match, leading in the third set before it was left unfinished. In doubles, senior Indya Nespor and junior Cielo Tapia-Cruz were ahead 5-4 at the No. 2 spot when their match was cut short. USU responded with a strong doubles performance against Fresno State, earning the point with dominant wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Nespor delivered a gritty three-set victory at No. 1 singles (6-3, 3-6, 7-5) to keep the Aggies in the match, but the Bulldogs ultimately secured the team win.
INTERNATIONAL FLARE
This season's roster features players from seven different countries. In addition to the United State (senior Indya Nespor and freshman Kylee Sperry), the Aggie roster features a player from Canada (junior Olivia Halvorsen), Czech Republic (freshman Natalie Paterova), Guatemala (freshman Maria Paula Ramos Garcia), India (sophomore Niyati Kukreti) and Slovakia (freshman Ana Sabikova), plus two players from Mexico (junior Magdalena Nunez Pureco and senior Cielo Tapia-Cruz).
