ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – Utah State women's tennis fell in its first road match of the Mountain West season at New Mexico, 4-2, on Friday afternoon McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
 
Doubles
The Aggies used a strong start to grab the doubles point and the early 1-0 lead in the match. Freshman Natalie Paterova and Maria Paula Ramos Garcia scored a 6-4 win at the third position of the doubles lineup, setting up seniors Indya Nespor and Cielo Tapia-Cruz to clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 win at the No. 2 position. At the top spot in the lineup, junior Olivia Halvorsen and sophomore Niyati Kukreti led, 5-4, at the time the point was clinched.
 
Utah State has now won the doubles point in eight of 13 matches this season, including five of the team's past seven matches.
 
Singles
In singles play, Kukreti pushed Utah State's lead to 2-0 with a straight-sets victory at the third position, 6-4, 6-2. The Lobos battled back to tie the match with wins at the fifth and sixth positions and emerged victorious in a pair of tight battles at the second and fourth position to clinch the match.

The Aggies continue Mountain West action at Air Force on Sunday, March 23, at 10 a.m.
