LA JOLLA, California — Senior Esteban Jaramillo tied for fourth individually, which is the best 54-hole finish of his career, and Utah State placed sixth as a team at the UC San Diego Invitational that concluded here on Tuesday at storied Torrey Pines Golf Course.
 
Utah State shot a 14-over 302 during its final round to finish the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 37-over 901 (309-290-302). New Mexico State won the team title at 21-over 885 (301-301-283) and Arkansas State's Thomas Schmidt took medalist honors at 5-under 211 (71-68-72).
 
Utah State has now posted five straight top nine placings dating back to last fall and four top six finishes during its last five tournaments.
 
Jaramillo led Utah State as he shot a 3-over 74 during his final round to tie for fourth at 4-over 220 (75-71-74), which is his best-ever 54-hole finish. It is his seventh career top 10 finish and his 1-under 71 during his second round was his fifth round under par this season and the 24th of his career.
 
Senior Julio Arronte shot a 3-over 75 during his final round and tied for 28th at 11-over 227 (78-74-75). Graduate Cole Enlow tied for 33rd at 12-over 228 (79-73-76) after carding a 4-over 76 during his final 18 holes. His 33rd placing is the best 54-hole finish of his career.
 
Graduate John Cook tied for 73rd at 18-over 234 (77-72-85) and sophomore Enrique Karg tied for 82nd at 21-over 237 (81-79-77).
 
Utah State continues its spring season next week as it travels to Maricopa, Ariz., to compete in the Wyoming-hosted Cowboy Classic on Monday and Tuesday, March 31 and April 1.
