Box Score IRVINE, California – Utah State women's tennis lost a hard-fought match at UC Irvine by a final score of 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, USU is now 4-5 on its spring season.
 
Doubles
UC Irvine won the doubles point with wins at the third and first position. Freshmen Natalie Paterova and Maria Paula Ramos Garcia lost their match at the third position 6-2, while junior Olivia Halvorsen and sophomore Niyati Kukreti dropped their match at the first position 6-4. Seniors Indya Nespor and Cielo Tapia-Cruz had their match at the second position left unfinished with the score tied at 5-5.
 
Singles
In singles, Utah State claimed the first two matches as Kukreti won in straight sets at the No. 5 spot (6-2, 6-1) and Nespor won in straight sets at the No. 1 spot (6-1, 6-3). UC Irvine then won the next three matches to post the victory as Halvorsen lost in straight sets at the No. 2 spot (7-5, 6-1), Tapia-Cruz lost in straight sets at the No. 3 spot (7-5, 6-0) and Patervoa lost in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (7-6 (9-7), 6-1). Ramos Garcia closed the match with a three-sets win for the Aggies at the No. 6 spot (4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-8).
