LOGAN, Utah – Utah State track and field junior
Logan Hammer has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Apr. 20. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With their sponsorship of the student-athlete of the week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Hammer broke his own school record in the pole vault twice this past weekend at meets in Long Beach, California. At the Pacific Coast Invitational on Thursday, he cleared 5.68 meters (18-7.5) on his second attempt, breaking the school record of 5.62 meters (18-5.25) that he set at last year's Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Two days later at the Beach Invitational, the two-time All-American broke the school record again with his clearance of 5.70 meters (18-8.25). He also owns the all-time Mountain West record and the top mark in the NCAA this outdoor season. Hammer is ranked seventh out of all Americans, collegiate or professional, in the pole vault in 2025 and joins Akron's Hunter Garretson, whom he defeated in both meets this week, as the only American collegians to clear 5.70 meters.
