Utah State Golf Ready For 2025 Mountain West Championship

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's golf team travels to Creswell, Oregon, this weekend to compete in the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Championship.
 
The Aggies will join 10 other teams at the 54-hole event, which takes place Friday through Sunday, April 25-27, on the par-72, 7,210-yard Emerald Valley Golf Club.
 
The 11-team field will complete 18 holes each day, following a practice round on Thursday. The Aggies are the No. 10 seed and will tee off with No. 9 Nevada and No. 11 Air Force in the fifth group on Friday, starting at 11:10 a.m. (MT). Pairings for the final two rounds will be based on team standings from the previous day.

Scheduled to compete for the Aggies are graduate John Cook (Aguora Hills, California), senior Julio Arronte (Xalapa,Veracruz, Mexico), senior Esteban Jaramillo (Bogota, Colombia), sophomore Enrique Karg (Guadalajara, Mexico) and freshman Toby Heider (Kimberly, Idaho). Graduate Cole Enlow (Frisco, Texas) will be the Aggies' first alternate.
 
Utah State placed 10th at last year's MW Championships at 11-over 875 (294-276-305), while Arronte was the team's top finisher at as he tied for 13th at even par 216 (71-66-69). Jaramillo tied for 29th at 3-over 219 (74-72-73), Cook tied for 42nd at 8-over 224 (74-69-81) and Karg tied for 44th at 9-over 225 (77-72-76).
 
At the 2023 MW Championships, Jaramillo tied for 38th with a 2-over 218 (75-73-70) and Cook tied for 46th at 9-over 225 (76-75-74), while Arronte played two rounds and posted scores of 6-over 78 and even-par 72.
 
At the 2022 MW Championships, Jaramillo tied for ninth at 4-under 212 (74-70-68) to record the Aggies' first individual top 10 finish at a conference championship since 2007. Cook also competed and finished tied for 42nd at 11-over 227 (75-77-75), 
 
Arronte leads the Aggies with a stroke average of 71.65 over 23 rounds this season, while Jaramillo has a stroke average of 72.65 over 23 rounds. Cook has a stroke average of 73.13 over 23 rounds, Karg has a stroke average of 73.85 over 20 rounds and Heider has a stroke average of 75.67 over three rounds.
 
Utah State enters this year's tournament ranked 159th (out of 308 NCAA Division I men's golf programs) in the latest GolfStat team rankings (as of April 22). San Diego State leads the field at No. 16, followed by No. 35 UNLV, No. 48 New Mexico, No. 52 Colorado State, No. 98 San José State, No. 105 Wyoming, No. 106 Boise State, No. 110 Fresno State, No. 151 Nevada and No. 242 Air Force.
