CRESWELL, Oregon — Utah State had four players card under-par rounds on Saturday as it shot a 9-under 279 as a team and the Aggies are tied for sixth place heading into the final 18 holes of the 2025 Mountain West Championship.
Sophomore
Enrique Karg had the low round of the day for Utah State at 4-under 68, while freshman
Toby Heider posted a 3-under 69. Graduate
John Cook and senior
Julio Arronte both fired rounds of 1-under 71 and senior
Esteban Jaramillo shot a 1-over 73.
Cook and Heider are leading Utah State after 36 holes as the duo is tied for 19th at 3-under 141. Jaramillo is tied for 24th at 2-under 142, while Karg is tied for 29th at 1-under 143 and Arronte is tied for 39th at 2-over 146.
San Diego State leads the tournament at 44-under 532 (269-263) at the 7,210-yard, par-72 Emerald Valley Golf Club. San José State is in second place at 22-under 554 (279-275). UNLV (280-278) and Colorado State (290-268) are tied for third at 18-under 558. New Mexico is in fifth at 13-under 563 (278-285) and Utah State (286-279) is tied with Nevada (287-278) for sixth at 11-under 565.
San Diego State's Justin Hastings is in first place individually at 15-under 129 (67-62) and teammate Harry Takis is in second at 11-under 133 (68-65).
Cook had three birdies and two bogeys during his round on Saturday as his 1-under 71 is his ninth round under par this year and the 23rd of his career. He began the tournament with a 2-under 70.
Heider had five birdies and two bogeys during his second 18 holes as his 3-under 69 is his first round under par and his first round in the 60s this year. He began the tournament with an even par 72 on Friday.
Jaramillo began the tournament with a 3-under 69 and shot 1-over 73 during his second round on Saturday as he carded three birdies and four bogeys.
Karg had five birdies and one bogey during his second round, which included a 3-under 33 on the back nine. His 4-under 68 on Saturday is his second round in the 60s this year and the fifth of his career. It is also his fourth round under par this season and the ninth of his career. Karg began the tournament with a 3-over 75.
Arronte had five birdies and four bogeys during his second round. His 1-under 71 is his 13th round under par this year and 28th in his career. He began the tournament with a 4-over 75.
Utah State players will be paired with golfers from Nevada for the final round tomorrow with tee times beginning at 10:20 a.m. (MT).
