LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women's tennis lost to Colorado State, 4-1, on Sunday at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.
 
Prior to the start of the match, the Aggies honored the careers of seniors Indya Nespor and Cielo Tapia-Cruz as part of Senior Day.
 
Doubles
The two sides split doubles matches at the second and third positions to open the match, with freshmen Natalie Paterova and Maria Paula Ramos Garcia earning a 6-3 win at the No. 3s for the Aggies. The Rams, however, claimed the doubles point with a 6-4 win at the top spot in the lineup.
 
Singles
The Aggies immediately tied the match back up at 1 as freshman Kylee Sperry earned a win by default at the No. 6 position. Colorado State responded with straight-set wins at the No. 1 and No. 4 positions before clinching the match with a three-set win at the fifth position. At the time the match was clinched, sophomore Niyati Kukreti held a 4-2 lead in the third set at No. 2 singles. At court three, freshman Ana Sabikova also led deep into the third set, holding a 4-6, 6-2, 5-2 lead before the clinching point was reached.
 
Next Up
USU heads back to the road for a pair of matches next week, first taking on San Diego State on Friday, April 11, at 3 p.m. (MT), before facing UNLV on Sunday, April 13, at 1 p.m. (MT).
