LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis had four players named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, it was announced on Tuesday. Seniors
Indya Nespor and
Cielo Tapia-Cruz, junior
Olivia Halvorsen and sophomore
Niyati Kukreti all received the award.
The 2024 academic all-district teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early June.
Nespor received the recognition for posting a 3.59 GPA while majoring in kinesiology. Playing exclusively at the top two positions in the lineup, Nespor posted a 9-8 record in singles play this season. Nespor also went 8-7 in doubles play. Alongside nine victories during the fall tour season, Nespor tallied 23 total victores on the year.
Tapia-Cruz also received the honor after earning a 3.50 GPA while majoring in integrated studies. A fixture of the doubles lineup this season, Tapia-Cruz posted an 8-7 record during the dual match season and a 14-10 doubles record including fall tournament play. Tapia-Cruz also posted seven singles wins on the year.
Halvorsen was named the Academic All-District Team after recording a 3.69 GPA while majoring in biology. Playing predominantly at the top two positions of both the singles and doubles lineups, Halvorsen posted 10 victories on the year. Halvorsen was selected as an Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
Kukreti earned the award after posting a 3.53 GPA while majoring in kinesiology. Kukreti recorded an 8-6 singles record during the dual match season, including a string of six wins in seven matches to begin the year. Along with the fall tournament season, Kukreti recorded a total of 19 victories on the year.
