Utah State in Second Place Heading into Final Round of GOLFWEEK National Golf Invitational Championship

Maricopa, Arizona Utah State shot a 6-under 282 during its second round on Saturday and is in second place at 17-under 559 heading into the final round of the 2025 GOLFWEEK National Golf Invitational Championship held here at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
 
Ohio State shot an 8-under 280 on Saturday and has a one-shot lead over the Aggies at 18-under 558. West Virginia is in third place at 8-under 568, while Oregon State is in fourth at 7-under 569 and Rhode Island is in fifth at 5-under 571.
 
Utah State is participating in the postseason for just the second time in program history, joining the 1981 team that competed in the NCAA Tournament.
 
Sophomore Enrique Karg shot a 2-under 70 during his second round and is tied with Oregon State's Bradley Smolinski for first place at 9-under 135. Karg carded five birdies, one eagle, three bogeys and a double bogey on the day. He now has 12 career rounds under par, including seven this season. 
 
Graduate John Cook had the best round of the day for the Aggies with a 7-under 65 to tie for the best round of his career. Cook, who had seven birdies, one eagle and two bogeys during his round, sits in fifth place heading into Sunday's final 18 holes at 6-under 138. It was Cook's 10th career round in the 60s, including his fourth this year, and his 24th career round under par, including his 10th this season.
 
Senior Julio Arronte is tied for 12th at 2-under 142 (67-75). Senior Esteban Jaramillo is tied for 25th at 2-over 146 (74-72). Freshman Toby Heider is tied for 44th at 8-over 152 (72-80).
 
Utah State will once again be paired with golfers from Ohio State during the final round on Sunday with tee times beginning at 10:40 a.m. (MT).
