LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's cross country teams were ranked in the preseason edition of the NCAA DI Cross Country Regional Rankings, which were released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Aggie men and women each entered the polls ranked sixth in the Mountain Region. The USU women's team continued its remarkable run of having featured in every regional ranking since 2012, while the men have been ranked in every regional poll since 2016.
The top five spots in the men's Mountain Region were claimed by New Mexico, BYU, Colorado, Northern Arizona and Air Force. In the women's rankings, BYU, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Utah and Colorado debuted at the top of the region.
The men's team enters the 2025 season coming off a 22nd-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships. The Aggies return nine runners with postseason experience, including five of the seven runners who helped the Aggies to a fourth-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Mountain Regionals. The women's team returns four athletes with postseason experience, including three runners who competed at the 2025 NCAA West First Rounds during the outdoor track and field season.
Utah State returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 30, when the Aggies host the season-opening Utah State Alumni Challenge at Steve and Dona Reeder Cross Country Course. The men's 7K race will begin at 9 a.m., while the women's 5K race will commence at 9:45 a.m. (MT). Admission is free to the public.
